The interaction between regulation, car choice and cars fuel efficiency
The purpose of this project is to analyse the connection between regulation of transport (e.g. taxes), and households demand for cars, types of cars and amount of driving. A core element of the project is micro econometric analyses carried out using register data.
A new dataset based upon MOT in particular creates possibilities of connecting regulatin and actual driving at a houehold and person level. For this purpose it is necessary to build and extensive database. The connection between car taxes the energy use in transport will be analysed based upon the result of the econometric analyses. The project is scientifically ambitious as the complex problems require an advanced econometric model and an extensive database. Good new data makes it possible to carry out analyses using such a model. The results and the database will be useful in other analyses, e.g. analyses of carbon dioxide quotas in transport or in prognoses of transport
