Energy-efficient renovation of larger building. Development and demonstration with emphasis on energy supply and installations
The aim of the project is to identify, develop and describe existing and new concepts on the supply and installation side and demonstrate that renovations can live up to demands regarding energy savings, improved indoor climate and improved user control options.
The recent EU building directive / the Danish Building Regulations and the large potential for energy savings in the existing building stock gives a strong basis for focusing on renovation of buildings and development of related energy technologies. The aim of the project is to identify, develop and describe existing and new concepts on the supply and installation side and demonstrate that renovations can live up to demands regarding energy savings, improved indoor climate and improved user control options. With focus in energy efficiency the following concepts are investigated further: 1) Exhaust ventilation with alternative heat recovery systems and heat pumps. 2) Integration of user control options. 3) Use of heat pumps with earth /season storage. 4) Rebuilding of light to heavy constructions (leveling out the energy demand). 5) Larger thermo active construction surfaces (heating/cooling) in existing decks. 6) Solar heating for domestic hot water. 7) Energy absorbers for heat pumps. 8) Preheating of ventilation air in solar walls. 9) Tempering of ventilation air by use of earth pipes (summer and winter). The most promising concepts will be demonstrated and documented in specific buildings in the municipality of Albertslund and the experiences results in overall economy statements, key figures and specifications. Dissemination of the results is assigned a high priority through the whole project progress and will approach to: 1) Energy consultants carrying out energy labels. 2) Consultants as engineering documentation. 3) Decision-makers, building users and others. The project mainly comprises apartment blocks, office and public buildings (schools, institutions etc.)
