Energy optimal retrofit of industrial process plants

The objective of the project is to develop methods for systematical heat recovery optimisation of existing process plants.

Project description

In particular methods that are able to optimise the utilisation of existing equipment (dryers, evaporators, distillation columns) will be developed. Mathematical optimisation methods earlier used for heat exchanger network synthesis will be further developed to be able to handle the integration of unit operations and utility systems. The methods developed within the project will be demonstrated at three different industrial companies
