IEA, ETDE Executive Committee. Danish participation in 2005

The IEA-ETDE Executive Committee supervises and develops the cooperation in order to improve the coverage of the database and to use modern information technology for the production and accessibility of the database. The common database ETDE World Energy Base is available at www.etde.org/etdeweb. ETDEWEB is free of charge for Danish users. The tasks of the executive committee also include planning of the common marketing activities. The decisions of the executive committee are binding for the member countries and the Operating Agent (US Department of Energy, Office of Scientific and Technical Information). The executive committee has set up a Technical Working Group with the task to discuss technical issues related to the database and to recommend to the executive committee technical developments to be implemented. In 2005 the Danish representative of the Technical Working Group is member of subgroups related to 1) coverage of EU publications and 2) distributed searching. Danish participation in the ETDE cooperation is essential for two reasons: 1) For Denmark it is important that information about Danish research results is made available internationally. Information systems - databases - are one of the instruments for distributing information about Danish energy research, and ETDE World Energy Base has the best coverage of citations to energy literature. 2) The ETDE agreement is essential to secure access of Danish research institutions and industry to international research results through the ETDEWEB. Without the agreement Denmark would not have access to the database
