Integration of SOFC fuel cell and the two-stage gasifier
The project concerns the Danish participation in the ''Biocellus'' project, where the SOFC fuel cell was tested on the VIKING gasifier at DTU.
In the Biocellus project under EU 6. framework, a SOFC fuel cell will be developed by Siemens and testet on 5 different biomass gasifiers in Europe. One of the 5 gasifiers will be the two-stage gasifier developed at DTU. In the project the gasifier will be adjusted for testing of the fuel cell, and the test will be planned, carried out and reported
Biocellus is a R&D project supported by EU's FP6-program, see http://www.biocellus.de/. In the Biocellus project a SOFC fuel cell has been tested on 5 different biomass gasifiers in Europa. The EFP-project concerns the Danish participation in the ''Biocellus'' project, where the SOFC fuel cell was tested on the VIKING gasifier at DTU. The test at DTU was done in the spring of 2006. It was very successful. The fuel cell stack was operated in 168 hours without any problems of using the gas from the VIKING biomass gasifier at DTU, and without loosing any yield of efficiency compared with clean hydrogen and carbon mono oxide. The fuel cell has also been tested on four other European gasifiers. Here the record of operation was 48 hours only.
