Wind measurements, development and documentation of new and existing methods for remote sensing and in situ measurements of wind
The main points of the project are: 1) Improved methods for modelling of vertical and horizontal variation of wind speeds. 2) Verification, calibration and improvement of acoustic sensors for remote sensing of wind.
Wind measurements of high quality and at the lowest possible price is of the utmost importance for wind energy projects. A number of different types of sensors and measurement methods are available. There is a demand for documentation of the accuracy, quality, stability and usefulness of these sensors and methods with special emphasis on the very large demands for high accuracy associated with wind energy. Furthermore it is important to improve the existing models for windprofiles, which in their present formulation are not valid up to the heights of the windturbines of today. By exploiting the facilities at the Danish National Teststation for Large Wind Turbines located at Høvsøre, we have very good possibilities for improving our knowledge in these areas. The main points are: 1) Improved methods for modelling of vertical and horizontal variation of wind speeds. 2) Verification, calibration and improvement of acoustic sensors for remote sensing of wind
