Prototype design of AquaBuOY and incorporation of power take-off system
The objective is to develop a prototype design of a wave power converter based on the Point absorber system AquaBuOY in cooperation between RAMBOLL and Aqua Energy.
The project includes a structural design of AquaBuOY, design of installation pattern and mooring system. A numerical model to be used for the optimization of the Power Take-off system will be developed and this model will be verified by model tests to be conducted at Aalborg University. The project will investigate the possibilities for adopting the AquaBuOY at specific locations with a wave power potential ranging from 15kW/m as in the Danish part of the North Sea up to about 50 kW/m at locations like the Faeroe Islands. In order to secure a commercial driven development RAMBOLL has signed a cooperation agreement with AquaEnergy which provides opportunities for future work to RAMBOLL and establishment of local manufacturing opportunities in Denmark. In order to anchor the know-how and technology to a Danish research environment model tests are conducted at Aalborg University
