Energy savings at wastewater treatment plant by integrated optimization of punfication processes and bottom biogerator
In this study the potential savings of subsurface aerations are investigated. The energy used at industrial plants in general is investigated also.
In year 2000 municipal wastewater plants use about 1% of the Danish electricity consumption. The aeration/oxygenation of bioreactors is using 40-60% of the total consumption. An integrated optimization of treatment process and energy use of surface aerators have in a former study shown a potential saving of 20-60%. In this study the potential savings of subsurface aerations are investigated. The energy used at industrial plants in general is investigated also. The energy efficiency of surface aerators is investigated and potential saving is evaluated. The expected potential savings optimizing subsurface aeration is about 20%
