Dynamic modelling of staged gasification processes
Two simulators have been developed to simulate dynamical properties of the two staged gasifiers situated at Biosynergi Proces Aps and TK-Energi A/S.
It is the main aim to create a dynamic computer based mathematical model of a staged biomass gasifier, the open core gasifier. By using results from this model, relations (temperatures, char decomposition, gas composition etc.) inside the gasifier will be understood, and a better gasifier can be designed and build. The model will increase the ability to optimise this gasification concept
As a background a theoretical basis and a mathematical model have been drawn up. The theoretical basis has been verified through modelling of the 100 kW gasifier at DTU and by comparison with the experimental results, that is open to the public. It is shown that the process parameters and control strategy can be optimized by means of simulations. Taking this as a starting point, two simulators have been developed. Each of these can perform dynamical simulations of the respective gasifiers. Comments and questions from the end users have been collected and adjustments have been performed. The simulators can improve the operaiion and control of the plants and contribute to improvements and upscaling of future plants
