Danish representation in IEA bioenergy programme Task 31 - Conventional forestry systems for sustainable prod. of bioenergy 2001
The objective of the IEA task is to synthesise and transfer to stakeholders important knowledge and new technical information concerning conventional forestry systems for sustainable production of bioenergy.
Work program: 1) Annual workshops and field study tours, for sharing of scientific and technical information and furthering the Task program, with published proceedings. 2) Study of silvicultural and forest management systems offering opportunities for biomass recovery for energy including different stands treatments, mixed stand management and expanded utilization. 3) Development of forest operations to enable cost-efficient and environmentally acceptable recovery of biomass for energy and conventional forest products. 4) Assessment of the sustainability of production systems based on forest ecosystem research focussed on nutrient cycling and wood ash recycling, carbon sequestration, stand productivity, and soil and water conservation. 5) Transfer new knowledge and technical information to stakeholders. 6) Co-operation and information exchange with Tasks dealing with greenhouse gas balances, short-rotation forestry, and socio-economic aspects of bioenergy systems
