Reservoir simulation of deformation processes in reservoir chalk

The objective of the project is to integrate the current knowledge on chalk-water interaction into reservoir simulation.

Project description

On the basis of previous waterflooding experiments on non-fractured chalk and planned test on fractured chalk it is the intention to establish mathematical and numerical models for compaction and creep. The test will be modelled using the reservoir simulation tool COSI in order to aid the interpretation of the test results. Further, it will be tested if the observed compaction and creep can be simulated by modifying the input parameters, compressibility factors and the permeability coeffient. The scale effects will be addressed and a model for pressure, rate- and saturation dependency will be suggested
