Energy saving silencer concept based on the diffusor principle
Background: 1) Flow friendly silencer and diesel particulate filter technology. 2) Lower back pressure related to market demands regarding attenuation, emission control and space requirements. 3) Improved engine performance. 4) Lower fuel consumption. 5) Engine test celle trials have been done. 6) Dynamometer tests. (on road tests) have partly been done.
Objectives: 1) Documentation: Improved engine performance, real life experiencies, Important factors related engine performance, On road possibilities, engine developments etc. 2) Marketing in relation to drivers, transportation companies, engine- and truck suppliers etc. Activities: 1) Final project definition, basic organisation etc. 2) Analysis, types of vehicles. 3) Selection, app. 10 trucks and 2-3 diesel powered trains. 4) Design of exhaust systems, mounting etc. 5) Data collection: Fuel consumption before and after mounting of new exhaust system, All important factors, Exhaust back pressures, Engine control (fuel pump, injection, turbo charging, waste gate etc.), Fuel type and quality (sulphur content etc.), Weather conditions (temperature, wind, humidity etc.), Topography (level, level variations, road conditions etc.), Driving patterns, Economical driving. 6) Data processing, stastical valuation and description. 7) Conclusions, reporting. 8) Market activities. 9) Contacts, national and international organisations
