Survey of analyses and data concerning energy consumption in households

The overall purpose of the project was to improve the basis for decisions to achieve Denmark's CO2 objective socioeconomically. The project's objective was to prepare a survey of the current research, models and data relevant for the socalled STANS project, and to develop the methodological approach to be made in this project. The STANS project (cross sector analysis of economic instruments to reduce the households' energy consumption) was a project proposal prepared by COWI for EFP 2000 (the Energy Research Programme 2000). The purpose of the project was to build a behavioural and cross sectoral computer model for assessments of economic instruments to reduce the households' energy consumption. However, the STANS proposal was not accepted. Still, the project has provieded a comprehensive overview of the available data and behavioural models concerning the Danish households' energy consumption. The available knowledge has been provided on data and research within the following three areas: 1) transport, 2) energy consumption and 3) goods and services. The review has shown that in general an extensive and detailed data material and a model basis is avaiable which describes the households' energy consumption and behaviour within the three sectors
