Energy Center Denmark as member of the Organisations for the Promotion of Energy Technologies (OPET)

The project activities have been implemented within the framework of the European OPET Network (Organisations for the Promotion of Energy Technologies), supported by EU's General-Directorate XIII. The OPET Network comprises 41 organisations and 13 FEMOPETs (Fellow-members from CEEC).

Project description

Background: The project activities have been implemented within the Framework of the European OPET Network (Organisations for the Promotion of Energy Technologies), supported by EU's General-Directorate XIII and XVII. The OPET Network comprises 41 organisations and 13 FEMOPET's (Fellow-members from CEEC). The activities are undertaken as part of a total project period of three years. Objectives: 1) Providing guidance to potential applicants about the possibilities in EU's programmes for R and D and information dissemination. The main focus will be on EU's Fifth' Famework Programme 1999-2002. 2) Undertaking a range of activities with a view to enhancing the information dissemination of Danish energy policies and -technologies as well as the other way around. The main technological focus will be on the areas bio- and solar energy PV and thermal, district heating/co-generation and the building sector. 3) In the implementation of the activities ECD will make maximum use of the facilities of the OPET network in order to streamline the information dissemination aspects. Work programme: The work programme comprises the following main activities: 1) Sending out ECDs Newsletter with information on EU's programmes. 2) Expanding and updating ECD's homepage with information on EU Programmes and on technologies and markets on a European scale (the Homepage has approx. 300 visitors per month). 3) Information dissemination of Danish know-how for a Europen target group via ECD's Homepage, giving presentations on European events, distribution of publications etc. for the OPET network etc. 4) Undertaking case studies drawing up results and experience from EU supported demonstration projects carrying out targeted action in order to help internationalise Danish SMEs. 5) Supporting activities to encourage Danish SMEs to carry out environmental measures - first of all in form og energy management - as part of Local Agenda 21 activities. Results/Benefits: 1) Ensuring optimal use og EU's R and D Programmes to the benefit of Danish SMRs and encouraging innovation energy technologies. 2) Promotion of Danish nnergy technologies in a European context. 3) Information dissemination of European R and D results to the Danish sector. 4) Targeted action within the sectors areas bio- and solar energy, district heating/co-generation and the building sector

Results

The acitivites are undertaken as part of a total project period of three years. The aim of Energy Centre Denmark's OPET activities has been to inform Danish applicants about EU's Programmes within the energy field, first of all JOULE-THERMIE. Also it has aimed at helping to assist with the internatinalisation of the Danish energy sector focusing on bio- and solar energy, district heating and cooling as well as the building sector. Some main activities have been: Sending out ECDs Newsletter with information on EU's Programmes; Expanding and updating ECD's Homepage with information on EU Programme and information on technologies and markets on a European scale (the Homepage has approx. 300 visitors per month); Information dissemination of Danish know-how for a European target group via ECD's Homepage, giving presentations on European events, distribution of publications etc. for the OPET network etc.; Undertaking case studies drawing up results and experience from EU supported demonstration projects; Carrying out targeted action in order to help internationalise Danish SMEs; Supporting activities to encourage Danish SMEs to carry out environmental measures - first of all in form of energy management - as part of Local Agenda 21 activities. In addition to this, ECD has been engaged in a number of other activities in co-operation with OPETs from other countries with to strengthening the ties between Danish and foreign market actors and carrying out information dissemination of Danish know-how.
