Ventilated solar walls, Center of Nature at Vestamager
The aim of the project was to demonstrate ventilated solar walls in practice, including satisfactory architectural and structural adjustment to a certain building.
The use of solar walls in Naturcenter Vestamager is in harmony with the local environmental profile, as other initiatives besides the solar walls will be used to reduce resource and energy consumption, including solar energy to public water heating, chip heating etc. The two solar walls are performed with compulsory ventilation (room air recirculation) and without accumulated heating. The latter on purpose as the building has only glass partitions on a limited scale giving additional sunlight. Furthermore, the building is only used in daytimes. The solar walls are carried out of prefabricated panels with glass-cover and absorber mounted in aluminium frames and build in the facade. Mechanical exhaustion system in the room make solar walls heating to be spread in the room. Thermostatically controlled dampers and ventilators ensure that only necessary supply of heating will be provided as well as supply of air with temperatures below the room temperature. The decision of establishing solar walls was taken after invitation to tenders for building Naturcenter Vestamager. The possibility of include the solar walls in the tender will give the lowest costs in connection with delivery and mounting. Measuring of the performance of the solar walls is going on. The performanc is expected to be in the order or 150-175 kWh per m2 solar wall
