EVergreen - intelligent charging of electrical vehicles

The goal is to develop a range of intelligent chargers for electrical vehicles. Hereby is it possible to enhance the usage of renewable energy production.

Evergreen is a series of intelligent charging stations for electric cars. The series consists of four basic models, which are intended for home charging, public and semi-public charge. The models are modular and can be tailor-made according to each customer's needs. The sockets can be supplied on request.
Project description

The goal is to develop an intelligent e-car charging system to be used worldwide, whether the car is parked at home, at work or in a car park. Intelligent charging enables automatic charging outside peak hours which makes it possible to increase production of CO2 neutral electricity from e.g. windmills. Due to fluctuating hourly prices on electricity the charging post will contain both a price indicator and an environmental impact indicator. On this the user will base the charging. In order to influence the users' charging pattern towards a more environmentally friendly charging, the environmental impact of the requested charging is calculated. Strategic goals for the project are to enhance the possibilities within: 1) Enabling intelligent usage of electrical power in e-cars; 2) Decreasing CO2 emission; 3) Increasing windmill power. Practical goals for the project are to demonstrate: 1) Intelligent charging in two levels: 1a) Simple intelligence, user defines the charging manually; 1b) Advanced intelligence, user selects a pre-defined charging pattern. 2) E-vehicle identification; 3) Integration into car park system suppliers' concept The final result is a product range of intelligent charging posts, ready to be sold on the national and international marked

Results

The charger has a module with integrated card payment, so that users can pay for the electricity directly at the charger, giving users full freedom.

Evergreen chargers incorporate intelligent charging. Every day the Evergreen system downloads the spot prices from NordPool and the CO2 forecasts from Energinet.dk – and on this the chargings are based. Thus, great environmental benefits are achieved.

The charging stations are managed in a user-friendly management system, where the owners of charging stations can see the status of the chargers as well as reports can be made.

In collaboration with Swarco Vikingegaarden has developed an integration between car park systems and charging stations so that users can pay for electricity and parking in one place.
