MEGAVIND. A strategic partnership

Megavind continues to support and consolidate the stronghold of the Danish wind industry through a focused and strategic vector apporach to validation, demonstration, research and education. Megavid will in the next phase develop strategies on Offshore and Components and Subsystems. (Energy 11).

The Megavind partnership has since its establishment in 2006 developed strategies and recommendations that have led to concrete research, development, testing and demonstration projects.
Project description

Megavind continues to support and consolidate the stronghold of the Danish wind industry through a focused and strategic sector approach to validation, demonstration, research and education. In the past 3 years, the Megavind partnership has been a central platform for the development of sector strategies with participation from industry and universities alike. Megavind will in the next phase of the partnership continue the strategy development building on the experience from the previous phases. In 2010-2011 Megavind will work with the intent: - to be the strategy platform of the sector that secures the interaction between research and industry by joint strategy formulation - to develop consistent and ambitious sub-strategies for both strategic basic and applied research, innovation and development as well as test and demonstration - to support the implementation of strategies in selected projects of significant strategic importance with participation from both private and research actors. Megavind will in the next phase develop strategies on Offshore" and "Components and Subsystems". The results and conclusions of the 2008 strategies will be concretised further and roadmaps must be planned for the individual focus areas to help implement the strategies.

Results

In 2011/2012 the partnership coordinated the preparation of two strategies with its recommendations within, respectively, wind power plants in the energy system and components and subsystems of wind turbines. Megavind ended the project phase by revising and preparing a new main strategy that will last until the end of 2015.

In the context to the offshore strategy from 2010, there has ben established an offshore roadmap that describes seven areas that have particular potential to reduce the Cost of Energy. The Offshore roadmappet is also coordinated with the new master strategy.

All strategies and recommendations have been heard widely in the industry and it has been available for everyone to give their input.
