IEA-Wind Annex 28: Social Acceptance of Wind Energy Projects

The task started in 2008 and ran until the end of 2011. The following tasks have already been achieved: - Produce a questionnaire for persons and projects; - Collect information on researchers and projects in different countries: Who is doing what; - Write State-of-the-Art Report; verify the underlying concept of social acceptance (trangel model). (see State-of-the-Art Report an www.socialacceptance.ch); - Create a Website and an online library; - Arrange a 1st workshop with the Support Group (side event at EWEC 2010); - Arrange national expert meetings (Boulder, US, autumn 2009; Galway, Ireland, autumn 2010); Amsterdam, the Netherlands, spring 2011; Trondheim, Norway, autumn 2011); - Dissemination activities The following tasks and results are work in progress as part of the work on "Good Practices" and will be finalised by the operating agent by start of 2012, draft report is done: - Analyze the various projects and case studies to determine which strategy leads to best results; - Compare and evaluate national and regional policy frameworks; - Compare and evaluate different participation models, describe successful models; - Understand and describe the concept of "procedural fairness"; - Social Marketing Strategy for wind energy; - Translate the existing knowledge of social scientists into the language of planners and engineers; - Produce guidelines with recommendation of good practices in the fields of Stakeholder analysis. Participation processes, Planning procedures; - Collect existing material on courses etc.; - Publish the results of the task in reports and make them available on a server; - Disseminate activities, in the form of (expert) meetings, conferences, articles etc.
