SEE-microFC (Socio-Economic and Energy Systems Analysis of Micro Fuel Cells). Hyco - Eranet application
The main goal of this project was to assist in facilitating a successful deployment of micro combined heat and power fuel cells to the benefit of society and the environment taking into consideration different types of fuel cells and fuels.
Fuel cells are undergoing a rapid technological development aiming at an actual market introduction within the next four to seven years as micro combined heat and power systems for residential application. The main goal of this project is to assist in facilitating a successful deployment of micro combined heat and power fuel cells to the benefit of society and the environment taking into consideration different types of fuel cells and fuels. In order to achieve this, a number of objectives must be met: 1) state the socio-economic consequences of different constellations of promotion schemes and ownership conditions, 2) analyze the current national regulatory frameworks and policy conditions, 3) perform energy system analyses of fuel cell based micro combined heat and power systems as a function of the chosen operational strategies including the economic and environmental consequences, 4) outline stakeholder interests as well as potential impacts and consequences and, finally, 5) disseminate the results of the project to relevant stakeholders
