The project ''IEA Bioenergy - Task 37, Energy from biogas and landfill gas'' is in fact an international partnership of knowledge transfer and research exchange, aiming to carry out expert technical work, expert technical support to policy makers and dissemination of information in the area of biogas and landfill gas. Task-37 is part of the International Energy Agency - Bioenergy and its activity is carried out as a common project for the involved partners/member countries; Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the European Commission. The aim of the Task 37 project is international collaboration and mutual exchange of research and information in the area of biogas and landfill gas, to provide the basis for decision making and for biogas development. The general objectives of the Task 37 can be summarized as: - To assess the existing and emerging biogas technologies, the environmental sustainability of biogas and to define criteria for quality standards for biogas and digestate; - To offer assistance to member and non-member countries, in order to develop appropriate legislation and practices in the area of biogas; - To help the development of a sound and strong national market for biogas; - To disseminate technical biogas information for experts, decision makers and the large public
