EneryBUILD: Climate and energy efficient buildings

The aim of the project is to establish a fundament for the functioning of the equity alliance EnergyBUILD. This fundament will be established through: 1) mapping of potentials for energy savings and CO2 reduction in buildings; 2) survey of opportunities for integration with the energy distribution system; 3) uncovering of market segments for energy saving opportunities in buildings. Market segments and saving will be seen in relation to geographical placement and the distribution system. Furthermore the market segment and energy savings shall be seen in relation to knowledgement of the building trade and the technological developments. Thus the purpose is to illustrate existing challenges such as potentials of developments, needs of demonstration and unfulfilled market segments. With the result of the overall survey EnergyBUILD will invite representatives of the building trade, energy production and distribution companies, governmental agencies and knowledge institutions to a workshop. The purpose of the workshop is to point out the most important areas of market developments and thus the fundament for the equity alliance EnergyBUILD. This will create the starting point for actual developments and demonstrations projects with the aim of saving energy and reducing CO2 in buildings. In addition to this, the equity alliance will prepare a strategy for new buildings and abatement measures in buildings with regard to energy savings and CO2 reduction but also relating to the overall energy distribution system.

Project description

The project established a knowledge basis for the EnergiBYG partnership by analysing potentials for energy savings and CO2 reductions in the building stock, studying the possibilities of integration with the overall utility system and identifying market segments for launching energy-saving initiatives for buildings. The study clarified the existing challenges concerning development potential, demonstration needs and untapped market potential. The study was discussed at a workshop with 160 participants and will form the basis of an actual strategy for new buildings and renovation of existing buildings. (Energy 10)
