DK-SOFC-b, Lomg term SOFC development
The overall purpose of the Danish SOFC (Solid Oxide Fuel Cell) programme is to commercialize Danish SOFC technology.
The present one-year project forms a part of a multi-year effort which deals with the long term development goals. Presently, there is ongoing work on two generations of cells: A further development of second generation cells (2G) optimized for operation at 700. deg C, and development of a new, metal-supported cell for operation at approx. 600 deg. C. The work aims to 1) minimize the area specific resistance at a given temperature, 2) lower the operation temperature without increasing the area specific resistance of the cell stack, 3) improve the robustness of cells and components, and 4) uncover the operation relevant mechanisms as an essential condition for coming technology breakthroughs. An important part of the line in the project is the building up of know-how with related patents, which can ensure industrial co-operation partners an advantageous position in the future. In the present phase of the programme work is concentrated on the development of SOFCs fueled with natural gas
