New buildings (houses) with integrated PV-system
The aim of the project is to develop and to demonstrate integrated PV options for standard single-family houses with a high degree of industrialized production. This implies the development of an integration method from the very first design phase making the PV system an optional functional and architectonic element of the standard house.
The PV system will be promoted as an aesthetic, green and prestigious optional element of standard houses on the same level as choice of kitchen, bathroom etc. The project group consists of an electricity utility very well experienced in PV's and energy conservation, a housing developer and -construction fm, a manufacturing firm in building elements, architects, PV consultants and a school of architecture. On the basis of the different experiences brought into the project optional PV solutions are developed, optimized and demonstrated targeting industrialized standard single-family houses. By developing the PV system as an optional, functional and aesthetic part of a standard house one obtain several advantages and thereby contribute to promote the use of PV. A full-scale demonstration house has been realized as an example and visualization of multifunctional PV. Solar shutters can be seen both from the outside and from the inside of the house and gives the house a very exclusive look. This project shows the way for future PV systems on standard single-family houses and at the same time focus on the possibilities for reducing the price of integrated PV-system on standard houses. Aarhus School of Architecture has developed a catalogue of ideas for future use of PV's as an optional element in new build houses
