Precast concrete wind turbine tower

The goal of the project is to further develop setup in order to erect a prototype tower with hub height of 140 m. This involves refining the design, development of moulds and erection equipment, and approvals of the concrete, the special tensioning parts and the tower. The experience from erection is used to further refine the consept and equipment.

Project description

In order to develop and erect a prototype tower following issues have to be addressed: - Detailed structural verification and analysis (static and dynamic) on the use of Ultra High STrength Concrete to be approved accroding to Eurocode2, what is possible and impact to design and solution; - Tendon anchorage solution to be approved acc. to ETAG013, what is possible and impact on solutions; - Approval of the tower acc. to GL (Germaischer Lloyd), DNV (Det Norske Veritas) or TÛV (Technischer Ûberwachingsverein), is it possible to fulful the demands, otherwise how to meed demands and what is impact to solution; - How to get a common approval; - How to achieve low tolerances, and impact on solutions; - Surface quality, what is possible and impact on solutions; - Optimize the concrete mix composition and the casting process, so that shrinkage and cracks are avoided or kept to a minimum and ensuring low tolerances; - Is it possible to contstruct a mould as planned, impact from alternative solutions? - Develop prototype mould, analysing cost and refinement possibilities; - develop erection equipment, analysing cost and refinement possibilities; - erection analysis acc. to time and solutions with a test otwer; - Erection and analysing prototype tower.
