Modelling of energy infrastructure scenarios for New City and Business Park
The project aims at cooperation between commercial and public sector partners to develop scenarios of the energy infrastructure in New City and Business Park in St. Rørbæk, Frederikssund Municipality. Besides energy supply, the project will also deal with energy technologies for transportation and drainage/water supply.
The scenarios comprise the supply alternatives, the municipalities in practice must consider in their energy planning. The scenario analysis will model the possible initeraction in the energy system based on a wide variety of both familiar and new energy technologies introduced to market.
The analysis will focus on security, flexibility and potential for energy storage. Each scenario will also provide an assessment of the individual energy technologies and their technological development stage. In addition to the scenario analysis in the project it will also be examined how the differnet technologies in transport and drainage/water supply most appropriately could ib included in the total supply, focusing on energy conservation and renewable energy technologies.
he project is based on the objective that New City should be CO2 neutral, and thus supports both the Climate Commission's recommendations for future independence from fossil fuels and the government's Energy Strategy 2050, which proposes an ambitious commitment to renewable energy sources and energy conservation.
In the project three different scenarios for the energy supply were identified and analyzed:
- Decentralized energy supply (at building and land use level)
- Central energy supply (thorough establishment of/connection to central heating and electricity grids)
- Semi-decentralized energy supply (at village or cluster community level)
Each energy supply scenario includes an assessment of the individual energy technologies based on the technological stage of development.
The overall conclusion of the project is that Vinge can be:
- Built with a self-sufficient supply of electricity and heat fulfilling an aim of CO2 neutrality
- Built modular with energy-efficient buildings and renewable energy technologies, and with a robustness to include any future new energy supply technologies
- Commenced without large up-front investments for energy infrastructure and a readiness to any future interconnection of central energy solutions
- Built with focus on sustainable transport, both internally and to/from Vinge with a focus on cyclists, pedestrians and public transportation by commuter train
- Established using a sustainable water management system, with the potential for groundwater cooling and designed for future climate impacts
- Be a showcase for sustainable urban development projects and renewable energy-based technology system solutions that can be used to promote Danish strongholds and export potentials
