Means to promote renewable energy in a market with uncertainty and risk
The instruments best suited to limit the risks that may block further promotion of renewable energy will be identified through collection of data concerning significant risks of projects involving renewable energy and analysing their impact in combination with political and market instruments.
Technologically, the key uncertainty parameters for renewable energy were identified and, where possible, quantified. The project used wind power as its case to analyse the liberalisation of the Danish electricity market and its significance for expanding the wind turbine segment. National subsidy schemes for renewable energy can be enlarged to become regional and cover several EU member states. Conditions on existing electricity markets in such countries may be pivotal to successful renewable energy expansion.
