Electricity saving by limefouling- and friction reducing materials

It has been demonstrated that new types of surfaces in the form of tribological surfaces and the sun-gel surfaces have good lime repellent properties.
Results
The Danish Technological Institue has demonstrated that new types of surfaces in the form of tribological surfaces and sun-gel surfaces have good lime resistance. Through a corrosion test in the salt spray chamber, it is also shown that the sun-gel surfaces also corrosion resistant. These surface materials are tested on the blower wheel, heaters and air cooler with generally positive results, as sun-gel surface, however, resulted in an unacceptable degradation of heat transfer between air and cooler. A subsequent phase 2, granted as a PSO 2005 project will include involve other types of equipment and will be working to improve the sun-gel surface heat transfer and optimize spraying and dipping processes.
