The project did not succeed in detecting the utilisation rate of artificial lighting in potted plant production by measuring changes in CO2 concentrations. However, the project developed a calculation method allowing gardeners to reduce artificial lighting operating time by up to 400 hours annually, especially during spring and autumn. The calculation tool enables gardeners to compare the analysis of light sum with the seasonal production planning of horticulture and thus try to optimise operating economy, where electricity consumption for operating artificial lighting constitutes a considerable production cost without it affecting production quality.
