The intelligent farrowing pen
Allocation of extra heat is essential for the survival of newborn piglets. Sensors in each farrowing pen provide information about the animals’ welfare and control allocation of heat according to needs.
Project description
The project develops climate technology and improved heat strategy for sows and sucking pigs to reduce early sucking pig mortality considerable. Application of a monitoring algorithm can predict the onset of farrowing, adn the pen climate can rapidly be adjusted to current needs, thus reducing heat consumption
