Voltage control in trade and industry - a tool for identification of possibilities and saving potentials
This project develops and demonstrate a tool for energy consultants and companies for estimating the saving potential by reducing the voltage level. A collection of data about the voltage level in Danish companies and mesurements of electrical motors, lighting sources and electrical equipments energy use by different voltage levels are conducted.
The purpose of the project "Voltage Management in Industry and in Trade and Service" has been to evaluate the possible energy savings from lowering the voltage and to develop a simple tool for calculation of the potential savings in a company or a building.
The Excel tool makes it easy for energy consultants and for companies til calculate the saving potential in a plant. The tool is based on results from laboratory measurements at different voltage levels on induction motors – both directly connected and motors supplied from a frequency converter – and on lighting systems. It has been further developed based on test in Copenhagen Airport (the shopping centre, a parking lot and hotel Hilton) and in a local government administration building in Aarhus.
