Combustion with biomass in suspension-fired power plant
This Danish-American partnership resulted in two PhD theses as well as a model for biomass firing in turbulent boiler flow. Burner maps of CO, CO2, O2, NO, NH3, HCN, SO2 as well as particle measurements were made. A model for measuring the flow around the burner head was made and tested at AAU. These measurements were subsequently compared with CFD

These measurements were subsequently compared with CFD calculations of both pure coal firing and co-firing with straw. Studies were made of ash-formation mechanisms and coating formation under varying conditions set to continue in project 4881, which will make an overall report on the subject.
