PV Island Bornholm, phase II (PVIB II)
As a follow-up to PV Island Bornholm, Phase I project targeting implementation of 1 MWp of PV on the island of Bornholm, it is proposed to establish a phase II targeting an additional 1 MWp. The target figure of an additional 1,5 MWp is expected in the form of about 750 kWp on municipal buildings and the rest on private buildings.
Besides contribution to the general deployment of PV, PVIB II creates a unique test facility which will be utilized in other R&D activities carried out on Bornholm targeting implementation of smart-grid technologies. This is done through the EcoGridEu-project and other R&D activities supporting this, for instance EcoGrid+ and Application of smart grid in photovoltaic power systems. Through the PV plants established in PVIB II, the large scale laboratory necessary to obtain the desired results in these parallel activities is created, and thus PVIB II will contribute to develop research results at a high international level.
