Results
The project aimed to improve stack technology for solid oxide fuel cell stacks (“SOFC”). The project developed and tested several improved stack components, including improved glass seals and protective “interconnect” plate coating. The coatings were tested in processes running for several thousand hours with low degradation rates (~1 % per 1000 hours). The project demonstrated fuel cell stacks based on LSCF cathodes with excellent electric performance. Finally, the project developed sealing materials to be used in the next generation of metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells.
