SunZinc

Development and testing different methods to fasten mono crystalline solar cells to a standard zinc roof system and finding different mono crystalline solar cells to find the optimal configuration.
Project description

The purpose of this project is to develop a roofing system with mono crystalline solar cells integrated in a standard zinc roof to have a more acceptable design of having solar cells on a zinc roof.

Results
During the process of fastening solar cells to a zinc roof we have tried many different methods. These are gle, tape, laminating and frame welded to the zinc sheet. The glue and tape methods were easy to use, but the long term qualities were impossible to have. The laminating method is a good solution because the integration is good and stabel, but it requires special tools to make the solution usable. Also over a long period the quality cannot be proven. The frame solution using a zinc frame to fasten the solar cell appeared to be the best solution because it is solid and has long term durability. (Energy 11)
