Co-Firing of Coal and RDF in Suspension

Institut for Kemiteknik (DTU Kemiteknik)
The utilization of waste/RDF fractions in full-scale, suspension-fired boilers provides a number of immediate advantages, compared to incinerating the waste/RDF fractions on a grate. The investment and operational costs are decreased together with an increased electrical efficiency from the thermal conversion of the waste/RDF.

Results
It is investigated what types of waste/RDF, that can be co-fired with coal in suspension. RDF is the share of waste that is particularly suitable as a fuel, such as plastic, wood and paper. A screening of waste/RDF fractions, experimental studies of flue gas, fly ash and deposits as well as particle size and burnout were performed.
