The pier-based Wave Star Energy test system is now ready for installation at Roshage pier in Hanstholm. For security reasons, the unit was moved into open waters west of the pier. A high footbridge will be set up from the pier to the test unit for access even in poor weather conditions. Connected to the electricity grid, the test unit is a simplified version of the first standard 500 kW unit with Ø5 m floaters and total electricity production of 110 kW. The test unit offers an important, flexible experimental area aimed at improving and lowering technology costs. New and less expensive materials can be tested.
