Development of Rotrex turbo compressor for water vapor compression
The project will build on the preliminary project (ELFORSK 343-005) develop and commercialize a competitive electric mechanical vapor compressor redesigned from air to water, which can produce industrial process steam at temperatures above 100 °C, replacing process energy from fossil fuels with more efficient and environmentally friendly electricity.
Project description
The project will build on the results from a pilot study (343-005) develop and commercialize a competitive electric mechanical vapor compressor that can produce industrial process steam at temperatures above 100 °C, replacing process energy from fossil fuels with more efficient and environmentally friendly electricity. The project group believes that the water vapor compressor redesigned from air to water, may be part of several energy systems for industrial use, including evaporation, heat pumps and steam systems. When used in a plant for mechanical vapor recompression (MVR), the energy efficiency is estimated to be 10-20 times higher than the thermal heat generated. The project includes several links in the value chain and can bring Danish technology is far ahead in the international competition in a rapidly expanding global market.
