Non Energy Benefits (NEB 1)
A new method has been developed to value the non energy benefits (NEB) for energy saving projects. By non energy benefits means all the results related to energy saving projects as comfort, increased productivity, better quality and so far and these are often neglected and not valued factors during the calculation of the rentability for energy saving projects.
The project developed a methodology for valuing the Non Energy Benefits of energy saving projects (Non Energy Benefits, NEB). The NEB’s are the results that follow from an energy saving project in the form of, for example, greater comfort, increased productivity, better quality etc., which are typically neglected or non-monetized factors in calculating the energy saving projects profitability.
Valuing the NEB’s increases the likelihood that the decision-maker assesses the energy saving project as attractive to implement and is inspired to implement more energy saving projects. In connection with the project a web-based tool was developed that will serve as experience database of implemented energy efficiency projects and associated valued NEB's.
The aim is that the web tool should be continuously expanded with more projects. The basis of the method developed is a comprehensive desk research, where a large number of foreign articles on mapping NEBs were studied.
In addition to the web tool, a guideline was developed to introduce the user to the method. The guideline also includes an interview guide that supports the method and makes it easier to use.
