Serial production is the way ahead for fuel cells

Fuel cells must enter the market in larger scale. The project should deliver a pilot plant that can produce fuel cells in large numbers.

Project description

Fuel cells must enter the market in larger scale. The project should deliver a pilot plant that can produce fuel cells in large numbers.Fuel cells can become commercial with lower price and higher quality if an industrial serial production is created. This could be the cornerstone in a new Danish Cleantech industry. Already today there is a demand for power supplies based on fuel cells and the first products have been demonstrated. The project will develop the production concept for HTPEM fuel cells that have the advantage of running on all existing fuels like methanol and compressed LPG which in the finished systems are reformed to a hydrogen containing gas.
The project unites Danish competencies on fuel cells with the technology for polymer solar cells. Focus is on research and development to optimise the membranes that are used in the fuel cells. The collaboration is an important step towards an industrial production and the development of a compe- titive technology. Commercialisation in larger scale is expected in 2015.
