DEAP – sustainable production

Advanced active DEAP materials have huge potential within an area like sustainable energy.

Project description

Advanced active DEAP materials have huge potential within an area like sustainable energy. Dielectric Electro-Active Polymers (DEAP) are very thin elastomer films with electrodes on both sides. It acts as a linear actuator controlled by the voltage across the film, and as a power generator if an exter- nal force is applied. Using DEAP technology you can achieve higher efficiency, lower power consumption and lower price compared to competing technologies. The DEAP-platform aims at developing the technology, achieving a quantum leap in performance and demonstrating its use in selected applications. The parties have the unique combination of techni- cal expertise needed to release the technology’s full commercial potential. The work includes material research, optimisation of production processes and a component design platform. It is the aim to dem- onstrate the potential of the technology in multiple applications, such as highly effective wave energy generation, compact electric valves and flat and effective loudspeakers.
