Green Gas Test Center
Main focus has been on test methods for biogas. The test centre routinely analyses main components and a wide range of trace components in biogas and biomethane, e.g. to confirm that the gas quality complies with the Danish Gas Regulations. Furthermore, tests have been performed for suppliers of new equipment (siloxane filters, measuring equipment) and for DGC’s project department. In the hydrogen-segment, our focus has been on the analysis of natural gas / hydrogen mixtures e.g. in
Power-to-Gas projects. Measurements were performed on trace components in hydrogen from electrolysis. Synthetic natural gas (SNG) from thermal gasification can potentially replace a significant part of the natural gas in the Danish energy mix. The test centre has analysed main components in producer gas from gasification and we have participated in an R&D project (Gasolution) as a supplier of measuring services.
We have used 69 % of the budget for the establishment of the green gas test centre. The turnover and the amount of state aid channelled to the end-users are significantly lower than foreseen in the project proposal. The low turnover is partly due to the fact that the subsidies for upgraded or cleaned biogas have been delayed, and the subsidies for the use of biogas still await approval. However, also in the other segments – gasification, hydrogen and R&D – the need for measuring services is lower than expected. Therefore there is presently no need for further investment in test facilities.
DGC will keep close watch on developments within green gases and establish new test facilities when needed.
