Combined Solar Thermal Demonstration

The purpose of this Combined Solar Thermal Demonstration is to commercialize the CSP system, and verify the respective efficiencies of CSP and Flatpanel technology at a variety of temperatures, the respective efficient utilization of diffuse and direct sunlight, and demonstrate performance and economic benefits earned by combining the technologies.

Project description

The purpose of Combined Solar Thermal Demonstration is through the development of a large scale CSP demonstration project to commercialize the technology. An additional purpose it to verify the CSP and Flat Panel technologies´ efficiencies at a different temperatures, the technologies´ respective exploration of diffuse and direct solar radiation, whilst in continuation hereof a performance and economic analysis of the gains to be obtained by combining the two technologies will be conducted.

The result will actively be communicated to the Danish district heating industry where it will function as a pioneer project for the future solar thermal solution. A combined solution that will provide a simpler operational philosophy and simultaneously improves the overall economy of the plant. Aalborg CSP intends to apply the project, as a reference project for accelerating market entry internationally, while the Technical University of Denmark will utilize the result for educational purpose.
