A methodology for detailed mapping of smart grid potential of buildings facing an energy retrofit is developed. READY.DK is a research effort into a larger EU demo-project, and aims to contribute to balancing the economic trade-off between investment in energy efficiency, smart grid technologies and energy production in the future retrofit projects.
Project description
The project READY.DK aims at developing a methodology that maps the smart grid potential of a building facing an energy retrofit. The methodology is facilitated by a computer program. This program will be part of a larger complex of programs developed in the context of the international EU-FP7 project (READY working with energy retrofit potential at district level. READY.DK will thus contribute with an important input for a platform to balance the personal and socio-economic trade-off between investment in energy saving technology, investment that can reap (Smart Grid potential), and energy production. READY.DK will conduct analyzes and experiments that maps the smart grid potential for a number of individual buildings involved in the READY prior to the energy retrofit. Next, identification of solutions which theoretically maximizes the buildings smart grid potential is performed. These solutions are incorporated into energy retrofit projects, and tested experimentally in the period after the retrofit. Experience from the project will be used to develop a methodology that can be used to identify and quantify the smart grid potential related to energy retrofit.
