Koordination af IEA EBC Annex 68

lnstitut for Byggeri og Anlceg, DTU Byg

The project concerns management of the IEA EBC Annex 68 project, which will establish the basis for

design and operational strategies for buildings that have very low energy consumption and maintain a high standard of indoor environment based on control of supply, removal and flows of heat, air, moisture and contaminants under in-use conditions.

Project description

The purpose of the project is to facilitate Danish coordination of the International Energy Agency (IEA)

project, Annex 68: "Design and Operational Strategies for High IAQ in Low Energy Buildings", which is a

project under the Energy in Buildings and Communities programme (EBC).

The Annex will focus on design options and operational strategies which can be used to ensure good Indoor

Air Quality and enhance energy performance of new or refurbished residential buildings by for instance

combining demand controlled ventilation with improvement of the building envelope and limiting pollution

from building, inventory and household products, whilst adopting optimal strategies for use and control these

techniques.

A central hypothesis of the Annex is that high indoor air quality and very energy efficient buildings can only

be achieved by carrying out a multi-facetted optimization, so the Annex will combine elements of knowledge

from separate technical disciplines, e.g. from experts in ventilation, building physics, building energy, indoor

climate, modelling and design.

Apart from engaging researchers from the abovementioned disciplines, the project will also involve

stakeholders such as suppliers of building products and services, and professional operators of residential

buildings. Several markets, climates, building traditions, cultural and organizational conditions will be

analyzed.
