Increased biogas yield from straw, straw bedding, and other agricultural waste
The purpose of the project is to develop a cost-effective methodology for increasing reactivity and handling properties for agricultural biomass particularly of low quality, in order improve the yield and operating economy of the biogas production by 25 % as compared to presently used techniques.
The purpose of the project is to develop a cost-effective methodology for increasing reactivity and handling properties for agricultural biomass particularly of low quality, in order improve the yield and operating economy of the biogas production by 25 %. In this project, IPU will apply systematic product development and research methods to ensure development of a biofuel pre-conditioner, which will be working under severe operating conditions, in order to meet the desire for low system energy consumption and long maintenance intervals. The experience of Lund University of how to optimize and validate the quality of the biomass after pre-treatment, will be deeply integrated in the development process, and improved understanding of the involved mechanisms will be obtained and disseminated. TK Energy will manufacture the lab scale pilot plant, and prior to the development of this plant, optimisation of single process will be performed at TK Energys facilities, in close collaboration with IPU and Lund University. Through, the whole project the farmer Kærgård and the end users, Nature Energy and Lemvig biogas, will be involved in the project to ensure that the developed technology will meet the demands of the marked. Furthermore, Nature Energy and Lemvig biogas will, based on the obtained results, write the business plan required to obtain the required investment to proceed with full-scale manufacturing of the developed biofuel pre-conditioner.
