New generation burner
Development of an intelligent boiler with the ability to do online measuring the amount of fuel added and adapt the combustion air to achieve optimal combustion.
The pellet-fired biomass boilers is one of the obvious choices when converting from fossil to sustainable biomass energy sources. As intelligent solutions, such as weather compensation and units with adaptive operating devices for regulating the heat demand in the Danish household’s increases, there are more strict requirements for boilers. An effective combustion of biomass in household boilers is extremely sensitive to parameters such as combustion airflow, chimney draught and fuel supply. The project aims to evaluate the influence of combustion parameters on the flue gas composition in a biomass boiler. The results will be used for the development of a number of components for incorporation into an intelligent burner. This is done by developing a method for measuring the supplied mass of air for combustion thereby obtaining a continuously control of the fan to the combustion air. Furthermore, the project aims at developing a method for inline weighing of supplied fuel meaning measurement of the biomass in the drop chute. This project consists primarily of industrial research, which will be performed in the laboratories at the Danish Technological Institute.
