"COOL PVT" White PVT solar moduls for building integration - developing & test

Energy & technology wise the project aims to develop an innovative PVT module in two versions:
1. A modul for high heat output with high temperatures for hot water, room heating and electricity.
2. A module for strong cooling and electricity providing electricity and heat at lower temperatures. The cooling output is achieved by clear sky heat radiation at night. This has a significant potential.
Commercially the project aims to develop PVT moduls to be a competitive alternative to: existing roof- & facade solutions and to bright facades. The product has high potantial for export:
  • The EU is commited covering 20% of the energy by Renawble Energy in 2020 and the EU countries must reduce the CO2 emmision by 20-30% compared to 1990. Additionally the aim of increase of the Energy efficiency in EU by 20% adds up in making the EU a most interesting market for the Cool PVT concept & production solutions.

The PVT module type that provides direct cooling is of significant interest where ever cooling of buildings is needed. On a world basis this requirement is growing steadily along with better living standards.

Project description

The aim is to develop a new innovative PVT product for building integration, incl. architectonic white and bright facades fulfilling the important criteria of Aesthetics, Energy saving and commercial attractiv solutions:

  • An architectual and aesthetic product at a high ranking standard, providing intergrated and attractiv solutions for architects and the building industry.
  • Energy wise a multifunctional product enabling supply of both heat, cooling and electricity and thus supporting the climate goals of reducing energy consumption and shifting to Renewable Energy.
  • A technically robust product that can be easily adapted in new buildings and for renovationg buildings.
  • A price wise competetive and achitectonic convincing alternative to the existing solar thermal collerctors and PV solutions and the facades and roof building elements.

White, bright or colored facades have hitherto been restricted areas for solar moduls, which are mostly dark blue or black. The innovative COOL-PVT modules will be able to match any color or bright facade, so that solar energy can be integrated into these facades and thus safeguard the aesthetics.

The PVT module type that provides direct cooling is of significant interest where ever cooling of buildings is needed. On a world basis this requrement is growing steadily along with better living standards.
