Concentrated Solar Power (thermal) combined with biomass fired boiler and ORC plant
The plant Solar Power plant is installed with the purpose to supply Broenderslev Citicens with district heat at a lower cost than the present natural gas fired generatorsets/boilers, and to reduce CO2 impact by less firing with gas and biomass
CSP (Concentrated Solar Power) plant will be installed in order to supply heat for an ORC (Organic Ranking Cycle) plant, either alone or together with a Biomass fired boiler.
“Waste heat” from the ORC plant is used for district heating.
Heat transfer fuel is thermal oil.
If solar radiation is insuffient to reach operational temperatures for the ORC plant, energy is supplied to a heat exchanger for district heating.
When the plant is taken into operation, Technical University of Denmark (DTU) will collect data and evaluate performance. A report will be made and published.
The result of the plant in operation and proven performance should lead to improve use of renewable energy, in this case, thermal solar power within areas, where high temperature is needed.
The present concept will be introduced to district heating companies in Denmark and outside Denmark. The plant configuration will also be introduced to Industries where high temperatures is required. This includes existing ORC plants.Key figures
