Solar dehumidifier

The company SolarVenti has patented an improved version of the well known air collector. Using a moisture-absorbing substance, the dehumidifying effect is enhanced and the device to be controlled by the need for dehumidification.

Prototypes have shown the idea's strength and design must now be optimized and demonstrated by various applications.

Project description

The aim is to show and demonstrate dehumidification with solar heated air. There is a large and growing need for dehumidification in buildings and in technical installations. Today is often used electrically powered dehumidifiers with high power consumption, or the building will not be dehumidified which leads to poor indoor air quality for the people living in the buildings or using materials that have been in the humid building. It can also happen material damage to building materials or technical equipment.

The project's main activities is to calculate and design the optimal dimensions and operating strategies. The Solar dehumidifier is a further development of the known solar air collector from Solarventi as expanded with a layer of moisture absorbent material Silica Gel. The material can dehumidify air blown into a basement, a technical plant with sensitive equipment or equivalent. The models will be tested in Denmark, Germany and Spain. The invention can contribute to a substantial increase in the use of solar energy and replace electric dehumidification. Since the operation of the solar dehumidifier will be extremely cheap it can provide a significant and more permanent dehumidification for the benefit of buildings, people and equipment.
