SportsLED
1. reduces energy consumption by 50%
2. reduces light pollution to the surrounding area by 90% compared to existing light sources
3. increases light uniformity on the illuminated area
4. reduces total cost on light sources and maintanance by 50 %
The aim of the project SportsLED is to develop a new type of outdoor lamp for sport arenas which offers:
1. 50 % less energy consumption
2. 10 times less waste of light in surrounding areas
3. 10 times better uniformity
4. Reduced total cost of ownership (TCO) on lamp light sources and maintanance by 50 %
The project aims to break down the market barriers preventing a conversion to use LED in sports lighting and thereby hindering large energy savings along with many other advantages. Through this project, project partner and SME, NorthLED, will attempt to commercialize the lamp and work strategically towards establishing themselves in this niche with a large growth potential. The new lamp will be protected through patenting the technology.
We plan to install a full 1:1 light installation at Roskilde Kommune’s football pitch, located in Himmelev, Roskilde. This installation will be used in promoting the lamp technology.
